Vice Principal

Applicants must be very well-established yogis, with experience in education. A degree in education is not a must but is certainly preferred. This yogi/yogini will bring to this position a strong work ethic, inner balance, patience, and flexibility, as well as a deep and sincere love of children and teenagers. Applicants must have experience living/working in collective Sahaj environments, as well as some administrative and/or managerial work experience. Applicants must be able to relocate to Mill Village, Nova Scotia, for the duration of the appointment and live on a modest monthly stipend. Full room and board will be provided.

Some of the responsibilities of the Vice Principal will include:

  • Work with benevolence in helping grow the school, which promotes Sahaj values and highlights the teachings of Shri Mataji above all else
  • Support the Principal in their role as Head of the School
  • Support the teaching team in the planning and teaching of lessons
  • Support the teaching team in ensuring there is a variety of assessments across classes
  • Support teachers in working together across courses and curriculum
  • Support teachers in offering varied, valuable field trips and out-of-classroom experiential education
  • Support teachers in preparing student academic reports
  • Support all students in their day-to-day academic lives
  • Meet with students regularly to assess progress
  • Assist in the creation of timetables, school schedules, and short-term and long-term educational planning schedules for teachers and students

  • Oversee the discipline of the students and communicate disciplinary policies to parents
  • Liaise with parents regarding student academic progress
  • Conduct weekly meetings with teachers to track student progress
  • Assist in the production of professional development for teachers
  • Assist students in the preparation of post-secondary applications
  • Teach some classes/courses on a part-time basis as per the school's needs and according to the applicant's areas of expertise
  • Work in cooperation with the Office Administrator to produce a monthly school newsletter
